I like the line some "conservative person" said about gays and marriage. The person said that there is no law preventing Gay People from marrying, he said Gay People just have to marry someone of the opposite sex. Lately, it seems that more and more people are saying something we have been saying since 1996, i.e., Gay Marriage is a NON-ISSUE with the overwhelming majority of Gay People in America, especially with Gay Men and even more specifically with Non-White Gay Men. See Lisa Dettmer's radio documentary Beyond Gay Marriage Radio Documentary It is 40 years since the Stonewall rebellion that generated the birth of the gay liberation movement but today's mainstream gay movement is a far different movement than the radical politics of the 1960's. While many have assumed that gay marriage is important to most Queers this documentary will challenge that myth and will show how the emphasis on gay marriage is part of the loss of a radical Queer critique that was once part of LGBT politics. Lisa Dettmer produced this documentary, which discusses the current LGBT political landscape and what kind of political work radical Queers are dong today. KPFA Nobody is going to get rich "selling" Gay Marriage Related Services because the number of Gay People in America who want to go through life married to someone of the same-sex is INSIGNIFICANT. There does appear to be a lot of money in The Gay Marriage Controversy though. For example, the amount of money spent by ONE of the Gay Groups in Maine trying to defeat law against Gay Marriage amounted to $6 Million. California's Domestic Partners Law and Community Property The Classic Proof that Gay Marriage is a non-issue with a significant number of Gay People is THE FACT that a large number of Registered Domestic Partners in California dissolved their domestic partnerships to avoid having all of their personal assets become community property under a revision to California's Domestic Partners Law. So, in the State where you have SOME INDIVIDUALS suing over the word Marriage (because CA's DP Law essentially gives Domestic Partners all of the rights of marriage), you also had a large number of Registered Domestic Partners who DID NOT want their personal assets to become community property of their domestic partnerships. Wealthy Gays and Marriage I've worked at all of the major investment banks in New York City, so, I think I know what Wealthy Gay Men are into. All joking aside, Lisa Dettmer argues in her documentary about Gay Marriage being a non-issue with the majority of the gay community that Gay Marriage is a luxury that Wealthy Gays are at liberty to pursue. The fact is that there is a basic and fundamental CONFLICT between keeping your wealth and marriage. The quickest way to lose half your net worth is through divorce. Gay Marriage is most certainly NOT something Wealthy Gay Men are interested in, at least not with the ones who want to remain wealthy. |

Wells Fargo Investments LLC A gay San Francisco man who worked for a Wells Fargo investment affiliate is suing the company claiming, in part, that he was discriminated against because of his sexual orientation. Stephen Seewer, 43, has filed a lawsuit against Wells Fargo Investments LLC in San Francisco Superior Court. Seewer, who said he helped guide the company's outreach to LGBT investors, claims he was forced to resign in September after having to deal with a manager who "hated and discriminated against" him for being gay. Ebar.com It is interesting to note from the article that Financial Adviser Stephen Seewer claims to have had a BOOK OF BUSINESS "valued at about $80 million to $100 million" from providing financial planning services to The Gay Community in the San Francisco Bay Area. |

Gavin Newsom Rides Gay Marriage into Obscurity Lisa Dettmer's "Beyond Gay Marriage Radio Documentar" points out that Gavin Newsom didn't get elected Mayor of San Francisco by The Castro. In other words, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom did NOT have the majority of THE GAY VOTE when he was elected Mayor of San Francisco. Lisa Dettmer further implies that Newsom's Gay Marriage Stunt was an attempt by Newsom and his staff to come up with some way of getting Gay Support for Newsom. Gavin Newsom's Gay Marriage Stunt not only put George Bush in the White House, it essentially made Gavin Newsom The Poster Boy for Gay Marriage. The campaigns against Gay Marriage in California reportedly used Gavin Newsom's FACE as THE FACE of Gay Marriage. Anybody who thinks the GAY MARRIAGE ISSUE is the road to fame and fortune should just take a look at how much fame and fortune Gay Marriage has brought to Gavin Newsom. Gavin Newsom couldn't even raise enough money to finance his campaign for Governor of CA. |

Let The Handful of Gays Who Want to Marry Marry You know, it is more than a little bit "interesting" that a lot of "the Gays" who are being very "vocal" about the right of Gay People to marry aren't themselves married to someone of the same sex. Reportedly, The Gay Marriage Lawsuit in California is largely being financed by David Geffen. I certainly would like to see David Geffen married. I'm sure after Geffen's seventh or eighth gay divorce, we won't have to bother with all of the crap Geffen seems to be financing. A GUY who is the head of one of the most visible "Right to Marry .Orgs" IS NOT MARRIED to anyone of the same sex. From what I can tell, none of these Gay Bloggers going on and on about Gay Marriage are married. THESE PEOPLE seem to want Gay People to marry but, apparently, THEY don't want to marry. Because, if THEY wanted to marry, they could obviously travel to a state that allows gay marriage and marry. Our position is let The Gays Marry!. All of the people who want to go through life married to someone of the same sex, and with The State as a party to their Sexual Relationships, should be allowed to Marry. Once The Handful of Gays who Want to Marry are allowed to marry, evolution can resume and we can all move on to things that are actually important.

Final Word on Gay Marriage - Don't Beleeve The Hype? For the last 20 years or so, The Great Gay Civil Rights Movement in America was driven by Gay Publishing Companies trying to create a gay version of The Great Black Owned Publishing Empire Johnson Publishing. A so-called "legit" Gay Magazine was only able to pursue so many issues, since it couldn't pursue gay adult content AND expect to get corporate advertising. Gay Marriage and the repeal of "Don't Ask Don't Tell" were "gay" issues Gay Media could pursue which didn't offend corporate advertisers, even though those issues were of little concern to the majority of Gay People. The Great Promise of the Gay Media Empire Here Media is that Here Media seems to be a company that is actually interested in sales transactions from gay people. I submit to you that when your income depends on gay people buying stuff from you, you might actually pay more attention to what gay people are interested in INSTEAD of what is great for getting Multi-Nat Corp to buy ads in your magazine. The CEO of Here Media declared that Here Media would be Gay Media for Gay People - not advertisers. We first used the slogan "Gay Media for Gay People" in a post to propeller.com. |
