follow the money Among the most striking findings is that more than 96 percent of LGBT adults contributed less than $35 to any of those 39 LGBT organizations in 2009. According to MAP, "only 3.4% of LGB adults have donated to a participant" organization. Less than 15,000 people gave $1,000-plus donations in 2009 ... Among the funding findings included a remarkable statistic that "[t]he average organization receives almost half (48%) of its revenue from its 10 largest contributors." Several years ago, I decided to investigate creating my own temporary employment agency in New York City. One day I called the HR Departments of several of the companies I had temped at and was shocked to be told by all of these companies that they had no open slots for minority vendors. I of course knew what temp agencies the companies were using and I knew that none of the temp agencies these companies were using were owned by Black People. So, how could their "minority vendor quota" have been filled? It turns out that the overwhelming majority of temp agencies in New York City are claiming to be female owned, they are claiming to be owned by White Women. White Women are the minorities of choice in New York City. The Temporary Employment Agency business in New York City RUNs on the fact that (thanks to the Civil Rights Act of 1964) most major employers in New York City have a need for X Number of Minority Vendors to support their so-called "non-discrimination policies". And clearly, these companies prefer that their MINORITIES be White Women rather than Black Males or Black Females. The Single Most Insulting Thing That Can Be Said About The Old Great White Bread Gay Media Business Plan is that Someone obviously looked at The Black Civil Rights Movement and walked away from it convinced that it was a great way to force Corporate America to buy advertising in your magazine. Someone looked at the fact that The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was essentially FORCING Corporate America to buy ads in Black Magazines and That Someone(s) embarked on making GAY a minority group, not to help Gay People, but apparently to reap the benefits associated with racist homophobic corporations having to have "non-discrimination policies". If the Gay Civil Rights Movement was like The Black Civil Rights Movement, would not A GAY Civil Rights Act of 1964 be the Number One Priority of That Gay Civil Rights Movement? A recent blog entry at Bilerico.com says: Did you know that you have the right to be fired just for being gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender? In 38 states you can be fired for your gender identity or gender expression. In 29 states you can be fired for being gay, lesbian or bisexual. Let's put that in a different perspective. In 12 states out of 50, you are protected if you are transgender. Twelve. That's a little more than 20% of states. In 21 states out of 50, you are protected if you are LGB. Twenty one. Bilerico It should be obvious that Corporate America does not want a Gay Civil Rights Act of 1964 |
